Prayer is a direct communication between us and God. We are to pray daily and take all of our requests and petitions to God. The place of solitary prayer is a little different from the day to day praying we do. It is a place where we have to separate ourselves from the world and get before God.
The place of solitary prayer may be a place where we have to camp for a while. It can be a place where God wants to equip us for what’s ahead. He may want to give us specific instructions or even heal our hurts/pains. While it may seem like a lonely place…it is simply a place where we are alone with God and that is always a good thing!
Luke 4: 42-43 (NIV)
At daybreak, Jesus went out to a solitary place. The people were looking for Him and when they came to where He was, they tried to keep him from leaving them. But he said, “I must proclaim the good news of the kingdom of God to the other towns also, because that is why I was sent.”
Matthew 26:36 (NIV)
Then Jesus went with his disciples to a place called Gethsemane, and he said to them, “Sit here while I go over there and pray.”
